Okay, SO we all know the unknown parentage of Jon Snow has kinda been a huge part of Game of Thones.
Theories and rumours have been flying around for years as fans of the books and HBO series long awaited just WHO Jon’s parents truly are.
Well, it seems one of the most popular theories has been confirmed in this this week’s episode.
In one very simple scene, we saw Gilly practice her reading skills with a book by the High Septon Maynard alongside a very frustrated Samwell in his library.
Innocently, Gilly asked “what’s an annulment?” as Sam explained it was the legal ending of a marriage.
BUT THEN, this simple chat became extremely significant when she explained that the reason she asked the question was because the book had mentioned a ‘Prince Rhaegar’ who married someone during a secret Dornish ceremony.
This information has very subtly confirmed a huge theory of many that ‘Prince Rhaegar’, aka Daenerys’ brother Rhaegar, annulled his first marriage to Jon Snow’s mother, Lyanna Stark!
This would mean that not only is Jon Snow’s father Rheagar, he is Daenerys’ nephew, the Mad King’s grandson, a legitimate child, and has a better claim to the Iron Throne than Dany!
