Today, we're mourning the loss of thousands of litres of precious prosecco after a silo holding the precious liquid in Italy exploded.

As much as 30,000 litres of the bubbly drink has been lost after an Italian winery's fermentation tank exploded and caused the prosecco to overflow.

Workers simply stood in horror as the sweet liquid poured onto the concrete before one of them whipped out his phone to record the devastating scene:

Save the prosecco. SAVE THE PROSECCO!

Luckily, people who partake in a sneaky tipple of prosecco on a Friday night can relax knowing that this horrific event will not affect the amount of wine stocked on shelves thanks to a harvest in Europe that was a lot larger than usual.

The Italian wine region is expected to produce roughly 50 million more bottles than last year... PHEW!

But still, think of how many bottles just disappeared right before your eyes!
