Weeper Hoses Brought In Line With Townsville Water Restrictions

The Townsville Council is cracking down on everyone's secret weapon to keeping a green lawn.

From Monday, locals will have to wind back how often they are using a weeper hose.

They've been added to Level 3 Water Restrictions, meaning the hoses can only be switched on for an hour in the mornings and evenings under the odds and evens system.

Mayor Jenny Hill says it's a common sense decision.

“Our target on Level 3 restrictions is 100ML per day and if we can stick to those levels then there will not be a need to move to Level 4 restrictions,” Cr Hill said.

Pumping from the Burdekin Dam continues.

Current Water Restrictions:

  • No sprinkler or irrigation systems
  • Handheld watering (including weeper hoses from 19 Dec) only 6am-7am and 6pm-7pm (odd and evens system applies)
  • Buckets, watering cans and drip irrigation systems can be used at any time

Even houses - Tuesday and Saturday

Odd houses - Wednesday and Sunday
