This morning, Firefighters are continuing to work on an out of control bush fire in the Holsworthy and Menai area.
The fire continues to burn in a southeasterly direction towards Barden Ridge.
It has currently burnt more than 2,430 hectares.
Voyager Point, Pleasure Point, Sandy Point, Alfords Point, Barden Ridge, Illawong, Menai and Bangor residents should remain vigilant throughout the day and keep themselves up to date by checking the NSW RFS website.
Winds are forecast to strengthen throughout the day, with temperatures possibly reaching 28 degrees today, which may result in increased fire activity.
The NSW RFS are warning residents to be prepared to activate their bush fire survival plan.
Residents should be aware that conditions may change quickly.
A significant number of firefighters will be on the fireground today, working to slowing the spread of fire where possible.
Overnight, firefighters were able to backburn areas around Heathcote Road near Pleasure Point as well as the Holsworthy military base.
Heathcote Road remains closed between Macarthur Drive and New Illawarra Road.
St George Crescent remains closed to traffic, restricting access to Sandy Point. People in the area should follow instructions from emergency service personnel.
Old Illawarra Road at Barden Ridge is open.
