A ground-breaking sporting adventure for Victoria's been announced with 11 regional cities creating a joint bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

A bid will need to be lodged by 2022 with Mildura likely to host cricket, softball and beach volleyball competitions if Australia is selected.

Plus we already have the existing infrastructure to host a Commonwealth grade competition those categories.




A homeless man who was trying to boil a cup of tea when he lit a fire in Mildura during fire danger period has copped a hefty fine.

William Williams pleaded guilty to starting 2 fires in the danger period when he faced the Mildura magistrates court yesterday according to the Sunraysia Daily.

It's believed he lit a small fire in a Chemmart Pharmacy car park on January 27 and 2 days later did the same thing.

The magistrate fining him $1,500.




Royal lifesaving Australia has launched a new campaign in response to alarming figures in male drowning’s.

With 1 in 4 drowning’s involving alcohol and 80% of all drowning’s being male they've launched the "don't let your mates drink and drown program"

General Manager of Lifesaving Victoria Paul Shannon says mixing alcohol and water activities is a recipe for disaster.



With school holidays and Easter upon us police say there's even more reason for us to pay attention behind the wheel.

90 people have been killed on New South Wales roads so far in 2017 and in Victoria 68 lives have been lost.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander Michael Corby says to curb that stat we need to stay alert on the road.

The Easter Powersports are back at the Timmis Speedway racing will start a 6pm on Good Friday with the Wingless Sprints Easter Trail.

Then on Sunday racing begins again at 6 with the AMCA King of the Murray, the late models Easter 5000 and the maxi moves modified sedans.

They'll be full catering out at the track it's shaping up to bee a big weekend at the speedway.
