Malcolm Turnbull joked he was "still grieving for Tupac" before admitting "most Hip Hop music sounds he same to me" when he rapped on The Project last night. 

He appeared on show last night to discuss Tony Abbott's calls to ban Macklemore's performance of Same Love at the NFL Grandfinal. 

Turnbull said he is looking forward to seeing Macklemore sing the equality  at the NRL grand final, but he accepts Tony Abbott is allowed to disagree.

"He should perform what he wants to perform. he is a great artist he will perform his top hits - that's one of them."

When questioned if Tony Abbott's calls to ban the song from being played were inconsistent with his recent calls for free-speech. 

"Trying to censor the playlist at the half time entertainment at the grand final, is not consistent with taking a liberal approach to free speech".

 

 

The PM also showed off his rapping skills during the show, apparently keen to keep the interview light-hearted. Check out the video:
