Two lost bushwalkers have been winched to safety by the RACQ helicopter after they got lost trekking mount Britton.The two Townsville men both in their 60's were found near Marling Spikes about 130km from Mackay.With no mobile phone service, they used a UHF radio to contact their partners and raise the alarm around 2.30
The Peak downs highway was shut for most of yesterday into last night after not one but two crashes occurred. The first was at 11.20 at Strathfield where a truck had rolled over. Around 7pm a B double towing vehicle attending an early incident malfunctioned forcing the front trailers sideways as the back was being loaded. Police attended the scene at around 8.20.
A young child riding a bike was hit by a car and taken to Mackay hospital yesterday afternoon. The accident happened just after 1.30 on Beaconsfield road and Cutler drive in Andergrove. The boy suffering from an arm injury.
