While tropical cyclone Linda will miss us she's still going to leave a mark. The category one storm is currently sitting around 750 kilometers East of Mackay. Moving South West away from the coast she is expected to be downgraded to an intense subtropical low later today. She is not expected to make landfall, however residents are asked to heed the strong wind warnings issued by the Bureau of Meteorology

Sugarloaf is set to benefit from a big boost in federal funding with a new project being announced. It's thanks to the regional jobs and investment program. Dawson M-P George Christensen says the resort will complement the region.
