Rosny Hill Roadworks Rage

1 Hour - 36 speeding Fines

Rosny Hill Roadworks Rage

Tassie Police can't believe what is going on at Rosny Hill Road with the roadworks on right now.

A total of 36 motorists were caught speeding during a one hour traffic operation at the temporary roadworks site located on Rosny Hill Rd, Rosny, yesterday

Acting Sergeant Rebecca Sulman said that the police operation resulted from a complaint about motorists failing to comply with the speed restrictions in place.

Police sent out members of Southern Road and Public Order Services for just one hour and clocked 36 motorists intercepted travelling in excess of the 40kmh speed limit.

All those 36 will receive an infringement notice for speeding.

Acting Sergeant Sulman said she was "disappointed" with the results, saying that the speed restrictions in roadworks sites were in place to make the area safer for both the workers in the area as well as motorists.

Police point to speeding is one of the main contributors involved with serious and fatal crashes.

They say importance of abiding by speed limits cannot be underestimated, especially in situations where there are roadworks.
