Echuca Regional Health's renamed it's short stay unit in honour of former long-serving police member - Senior Constable Peter Geddes.

When he was deployed to Echuca's Police Station in 1985, he quickly joined the Echuca/Moama Search & Rescue Squad, where he was elected President and Rescue Captain.

Blue Ribbon Foundation CEO Neil Soullier says he was incredibly dedicated to his job and the community across his 14 years in the region.

46 dedicated cyclists are heading off from Benalla this morning, riding 1 thousand Kilometres to Newcastle, to raise funds and awareness for Camp Quality.

One of the riders, Simon Morris is a childhood cancer survivor, having experienced Leukaemia at the age of 9.

He says Camp Quality was instrumental in keeping his family of seven positive during his cancer battle.
