The Australian Government has just announced today that $120,000 will be invested into the Black Spot Programme to make the intersection on Watt Road and Riverview Drive safer for drivers.

The Black Spot Programme reduces fatal and injury crashes by 30 per cent - specifically targeting road locations with a history of crashes to deliver safety improvements such as road widening, increased lighting and signage and installing traffic lights and roundabouts.

- Hon Damian Drum MP

Under the National Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020, Australian governments committed to increasing road safety across Australia.

The Watt Road and Riverview Drive intersection is known to be dangerous, particularly in wet conditions.

Mr Drum stated, “This investment will see safer commutes for people travelling between Kialla and Mooroopna by installing a safety barrier, centre and edge line marking, raised reflective pavement markers and the removal of a tree."
