Ironman legend Dean Mercer has been farewelled by more than 1000 family and friends at a funeral service at Carrara.
Wife Reen Mercer led the tributes for the dedicated father-of-four at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre on Friday, admitting he had a "heart of gold."
Among the speakers were also brother and fellow-Ironman Darren Mercer, long-time friend Trent Morgan and family spokesperson Ian Hansen.
After the service the 47-year-old was farewelled by a guard of honour as his casket was carried away.
Dean passed away 11 days ago when he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while driving at Mermaid Waters.
He was remembered as tenacious and loyal, and could light up a room.
