The excitement of Carnival is coming to Crows Nest next month – and locals are encouraged to join in on the fun to make a difference in the fight against women’s cancers.
Tickets are now on sale to the annual Crows Nest Girls’ Night In, to be held Saturday, September 2, in the Crows Nest RSL Auditorium, in support of Cancer Council Queensland.
Organiser Jacinta Willis said she was proud to be hosting a Girls’ Night In for the sixth year and encouraged locals to show their support.
“Each year I hear stories from family members or friends who know someone with cancer or are going through treatment themselves; knowing that our event is helping reduce the burden of cancer and seeing the smiles of ladies around town when they provide feedback after our event keeps me motivated,” she said.
Ms Willis said a Rio Carnival theme was chosen as it can be interpreted in many ways.
“Think Samba, bursts of colour, masks, strings of beads, feathers galore and just party, party, party!” she said.
“We are encouraging people to come as their beautiful selves in any way, shape and form, and to bring along their mum, sisters, grandma and girlfriends to help make this year the biggest event yet.”
The public event will start at 5pm and highlights include trivia, games, dance performance, raffle, auction, lucky door prize and best dressed prize, Roving Studios Photobooth, and more.
“This year we will have a DJ from Darling Downs Entertainment to help keep the good times rolling for us until midnight,” Ms Willis said.
“People can purchase tickets until the event is sold out, so get in quick.”
Tickets are $55 per person and includes food, entertainment, one free refreshment, and a gift for each lady that attends.
Locals can purchase tickets by calling Jacinta Willis on 0417 716 959, at Chic Shoe Store, or from The Nest Café, Crows Nest.
Tickets to the event’s community raffle are also available from these outlets for $2 each or $5 for three tickets, or at a stall in front of the Crows Nest IGA on Saturday mornings in August.
