A man has died in a single car crash in NEILBOROUGH overnight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of NEILBOROUGH EAST road and MUNRO ROAD around 9.30pm where they found the man decreased at the scene.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined - the state's road toll is now 83 - 14 lower than the same time last year.

The man accused of murdering Kyneton woman Alicia Little in December has fronted the Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday.

Charles Mckenzie Ross Evans was arrested and charged with a single count of murder following the death of his partner on Lavenders Lane Kyneton on December 28th.

He’ll return to court for a three day contested committal hearing in December where the magistrate will decide if there’s sufficient evidence to warrant a trial in the Supreme Court.

The CFA has released its reponse time data for the first quarter of 2018 with Bendigo's Brigade having one of the promptest response times across Victoria.

Bendigo's brigades had to respond to 210 incidents - reaching hazards within 8 minutes 98 percent of the time.

Their average response time during the quarter was 6 minutes and 41 seconds - the service delivery standard is 8 minutnes.

The GREATER BENDIGO council's denied an application by the ALL SEASONS HOTEL to extend their liquor license trading hours at last night's council meeting.

the HOTEL had been looking to push closing time from 3am to 4am on weekends and from 1am to 3am on weeknights in a bid to remain competitive with other venues.

Deputy mayor JENNIFER ALDEN saying a change to hours could help facilitate problem gambling.

It's WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY today and the Stroke Foundation's launching Australia's biggest blood pressure check campaign to lower the number of regions residents suffering a stroke.

They're calling on everyone to take 5 minutes out of their day to go and get their blood pressure checked with your GP or digital health check machine.

Stroke foundation CEO Sharon MCGOWAN says most people don't know they have high blood pressure before getting checked because it has no symptoms.

The BENDIGO FOOTBALL LEAGUE's named 10 new faces in the 24 man squad which will travel down to Warrnambool on Saturday to play Hampden in the interleague competition following final training at the QEO last night. Two big names in Andrew Collins (Sh) and Quade Johntone (SB) will be missing from the squad due to injuries.
